Membership at West Byfleet Golf Club

West Byfleet Golf Club offers a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a vibrant and engaged membership across all sections of the Club. From competitive golfers to those who play primarily for enjoyment and companionship, there is a strong sense of community both on and off the course. The Club enjoys a full and active calendar of competitions and social events throughout the year.

Please note that the Club is currently at full membership with a waitlist of approximately two years for adult and junior male categories. As part of our commitment to the Women in Golf Charter, female applications are being accelerated and the waiting time is considerably shorter. The current rates in force can be found below, and candidates are encouraged to observe the "Role of Proposer & Seconder" document before filling out an Application Form. In cases where a suitable candidate does not already have a willing Proposer/Seconder, we can assist in the process. All candidates will be expected to attend an interview, preferably with their Proposer and/or Seconder in attendance, before any invitation to membership is issued. Interview template here.

Ladies' Membership

Women's golf is a central and thriving part of West Byfleet. As a signatory to the Women in Golf Charter, the Club is fully committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment in which women's golf can flourish.

Our Ladies' section offers an excellent balance of competitive and social golf, supported by a varied and well-attended calendar of events throughout the year. The Ladies' Committee plays an active role in shaping this programme, ensuring that it remains both inclusive and engaging for golfers of all abilities.

The Club also benefits from outstanding facilities and support for women's golf, including a Professional shop well known for its stock of ladies' golf attire, and a strong coaching programme.

Women are also well represented within the governance of the Club, with members serving on both the Board and the Captain's Committee, reflecting the importance placed on the Ladies' section within the wider life of West Byfleet.

For those considering membership, West Byfleet offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive and welcoming Club where women's golf is both valued and actively supported.

Junior Membership

Our Junior section is an important part of the Club and provides a supportive and enjoyable introduction to the game. As part of the Surrey junior leagues, young players have access to a strong programme of competitions, including the Christie's Cup and the Junior Club Championships.

The Woodpecker Academy, for boys and girls aged 9 to 15, offers an accessible and well-structured programme designed to introduce children to golf and support their development into junior membership. Alongside this, initiatives such as Girls Golf Rocks have helped to grow and strengthen participation among younger female golfers.

Seniors

Our Seniors' section, known as the "BOBS" (Byfleet Old Boys), is a well-established and sociable group open to members over the age of 60. The section enjoys a full programme of matches, including both friendly and league fixtures, alongside a range of social events throughout the year.

The popular McNeil Salvers winter league is a particular highlight, providing competitive golf during the off-season in a friendly and supportive environment.

Application Process

Applications for membership may be made via completion of an application form, available from the Club or by request. Candidates are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the role of Proposer and Seconder before applying. Where this is not already in place, the Club is happy to assist in making introductions.

All candidates will be invited to attend an interview, ideally with their Proposer and/or Seconder, prior to any invitation to membership being issued.
