West Byfleet Golf Club was founded in 1922, evolving from the original Bleakdown Golf Club established by Hugh Locke King. The course, initially laid out in 1906 by Cuthbert Butchart, was redesigned by celebrated architect John Abercromby, whose classic style remains largely intact. Minimal updates by respected architects, along with a recent five-year improvement by Mackenzie & Ebert, ensure the course’s rich heritage endures.
Situated on well-draining Bagshot sand, the course offers an enjoyable, private experience with no public paths crossing the grounds. West Byfleet’s peaceful setting also supports diverse wildlife, including deer, foxes, and the green woodpecker, the club’s emblem.
